Rover didn't make a 1.6 in the 75, and the 2L is virtually exactly the same as the 2.5 V6...atrixblue.-MFR-. wrote: »avoid the 1.6 1.8 2.0L. youll get more out of the deisel MPG wise and reliability (BMW engine) dealers just cant give away the petrol rover MG's
The T4 has no problem reading stuff from the 75, be it petrol or diesel. The airbag systems are the same across all 75's.of course one of the problems with the bmw engine fitted is you cant run rover diagnostics on the engine because its a bit of a hybrid this means that by going in to find say an airbag problem you have coms problems all over the shop
im not aware if this has been sorted by anyone other than old main dealer equipment because i have just under £500 of software and hardware to do these rovers and it wont talk to it,other rovers yes rover 75 diesels no
 so be warned
anybody know any cures?Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

As far as I was aware T4 will read across the whole 75 range, as mentioned above.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

He doesn't the review the diesel too badly the 1.8 is slated, 2.0/2.5 isn't too bad but beware a cambelt change on those is expensive. When I had mine done I took it to lates in coventry as he was a third of the price of anyone local in North Devon and he has done hundreds if not thousands of them where down here when the mechanic says "I'll give it a go, can't be that hard" it doesn't fill you will confidence lol.
If you buy a 75 then get registered on the mg-rover.org forum and you will get plenty of help and advice which really helps keep costs down.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

This engine is a 16v head on an old 8v block, they used two mounting casts in the block to torque the head bolts, which when the get hot they expand and the head gasket lifts, it was a schoolboy engineering error, new gaskets, better gaskets, they can not stop the centre bolts lifting that few th/mm that causes it.
Buy a petrol rep mobile such as a mondeo, the 2.0 ghia x auto will leave the 1.8t rover for dust.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Buy a Mondeo!!!Are you mad!!!! I got lambasted for suggesting a Mondeo on another thread, buy an RX8 instead, they're ultra reliable, cost peanuts to run and the engines last forever.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
Got a huge Buzz out of it.0

Its all irrelevant, one man will love the 75 the other loathe it and vicer versa with the mondeo. They are both good cars, both have problems. I always have to laugh though how no one ever seems to mention about HGF on any other mark than the Rover, and yes I know they are notorious for it on the K series but ford, vauxhall etc are all prone to it aswell if not looked after.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

However you wont get a T4 for £500, and the 75 is probably the most complicated car Rover ever built (on an electrical side at least).
Remember, the 75 is not synonymous with HGF - the K-Series is. The V6 and Diesels are totally unnafected.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

Thanks for your post but i'm not sure why you replied as I never stated you could get a T4 for £500 nor did I say HGF is synonymous with the 75??
I did however say that the T4 system will read all the 75 regardless if its petrol or diesel, as someone earlier in the thread said about there system only reading the petrol variants. Also I have said that V6 HGF is very rare, but has been known. The 1.8 is the K series and is prone to HGF.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
