Nectar with British Gas-Beware

I received a letter from Nectar saying I would receive 15,000 extra points (approx £75.00) if I swithed to BG. I chose a fixed rate for 15 months and signed up. Phoned BG today to see how points would be allocated to my card and was told it did not apply to fix term contract. Bit of a discussion where the BG advisor slated Necta,r but agreed in the end to give me the points, not before I told him to cancel the contract.

Was it a field sales advisor that approached you to confrim the sale?
If you take the 15,000 nectar points then the customer should be on the Standard tariff for the following 12 months. It`ll state in the terms and conditions that it can`t be combined with other offers such as a discounted tariff.:money:0 -
No, the letter came from Nectar and said 15,000 points were on offer for new BG customers changing from their current supplier, no conditions were ever mentioned in the letter. It was only when I phoned BG after signing up on the web (It was never mentioned on the BG site either) that the advisor told me that it was 15 month contract or 15,000 points, not both.0

I got the same letter from Nectar but when I went through the Nectar site it said that you only got the 15,000 points if you signed up for BG standard tariff, so I didn't bother.
It is on the site somewhere.0 -
It should be clearer on all correspondence to avoid this confusion.:money:0

From the T&C
You need to be a Nectar account holder and register with Scottish Gas to collect points. Offer applies to new customers who sign up to take standard gas and electricity from Scottish Gas
Seems clear enough to me0
