Hi everyone. I have just recieved a letter cancelling an ASu insurance policy I had no idea I had. This is related to our mortgage. We recently changed our buildings cover and thought that this is what was going out of the bank each month. I have always refused PPI and ASu as I am a Nurse and get paid if I am sick or have an accident. Further to this in 2004 I had a huge accident and was off work for 5 months. I never claimed because I was not aware I even had a policy. It has been going out of the bank each month as well as two other insurances which I thought were related to further borrowing and therefore insurance went up.
The letter I have recieved does not match up to the reference on my statement but all are related to northen rock.
I am very confused. As they are monthly payments do I have a right to claim them back. I have always said no to this insurance so do not understand why I have it.
Any help would be gratefully recieved.
Jazz.

You cant just reclaim payments because you want to. You have to have a justifiable complaint. What is your complaint?I have always said no to this insurance so do not understand why I have it.
If that is your complaint then make it. However, don't be surprised when they show you a copy of the application form. These things do not set themselves up. So, somewhere along the line, it has been done with your consent.
NR did run a deal some years back where you got it free of charge for a while and then when that ended, you could choose to continue or stop it (with continue being the default option if you didnt respond). It may be that.
Whatever you complain about, it is worth remembering that forgetting you had it and paying a monthly premium for over 7 years is not grounds for complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have looked through my policies and I have 3 secured loans since the original mortgage. I have PPI on 2 of them. Why would I agree to 2 and not the others. All with same company. Trying to find my paperwork from taking out mortgage to see if I had it on that. I do not think I did.
All three loans were for IVF and they knew this. I think they must have caught me on the hop because it is unlike me to agree to this insurance. I also have previous condition that would make the policy usless. I have had 2 operations and an accident which I never claimed for.0 -

Don't know. Maybe the rep that did one of them didnt have a PPI to offer? Maybe you decided you didnt need it at that time. Its not something that really points to bucking a trend. Indeed, it actually indicates that the time you didnt have it was more unusual.
Also, remember that MPPI and secured loan are two different things.I also have previous condition that would make the policy usless. I have had 2 operations and an accident which I never claimed for.
If that is the case then you have an easy complaint to make. However, most PPI only exclude issues related to that medical condition. Not other medical issues. So, you may want to check first before you make a complaint on that basis.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thanks for your help. I meant 4 secured loans not three. I have PPI on the two in the middle. Nothing changed about employment status throughout. Also all loans were close together about every 6 months from August 2005 to July 2007.
I think the one that wrote to us was a mistake and should have said buildings insurance not ASU. I will call them and check tomorrow.
On all other loans and CC I have refused PPI. And do not have it on any other credit.
I will write to them using the questionaire and see what they say.0
