I managed to get the Price Protection 2014 tariff from Eon after having done some comparisons - only £30 difference between that and EDF 2014 so thought I would stay with Eon after being on FOL8.

However now I'm not so sure;

Eon quoted £1149 based on my usage. Moneysupermarket.co agrees with this.

However energyhelpline and uSwitch both quote £1249.

All comparison sites quote £1119 for EDF 2014.

If Eon and moneysupermarket are correct then saving is only £30. If energyhelpline and uSwitch are correct saving is £130 which is rather a different story.

I've checked and checked again but cannot see where, if anywhere I've gone wrong. Can anyone help out?

Area : Scottish Power
Current traiff - Eon Price Protection 2014
Gas : 17,150 kwh
Electricity : 3519

If you can use a spreadsheet, you can check it yourself.
You have your annual kWh, so for E.On take the cost at the primary rate plus the difference between the changeover and the total usage at the secondary rate. Then take any discounts off and add VAT. Do that for each utility and add them up.
For EDF, take the standing daily charge x 365 plus annual usage x rate per kWh. Do the discount and VAT, then see what you get.

Could be one site is not considering the discounts you'll get or something like that.

Just worked it out on my calculator - it's the discounts that have made the difference.

Gas cost is £697.26 and electricity cost is £551.26. Total is £1248.52 so £1249 as both energyhelpline and uSwitch quote.

However moneysupermarket also mentions an 8% disount for dual duel and DD payments which the other 2 do not mention at all.

I then logged into my Eon account and the 8% disount is mentioned.

So it appears that Eon and moneysupermarket gave the correct information and energyhelpline and uSwitch are incorrect.

I don't know if EHL saw your thread, but I just checked and they now quote £1149 using your current tariff (Eon price protection 2014) and mentions the 8% discount :)

The EDF tariff is as you say quoted at £1119

EHL still showing £1249 for me with no 8% discount mentioned. I even used a completely different browser just in case.

EDIT : Solved it and it's been my mistake! Don't know how I missed it but I had not changed my current tariff over to DD payment and it was on Pay on receipt of bill.

Now that I have gone back and checked all comparison sites are showing the same.
