Laptop Wireless Issue

Our wireless network seems to be very intermittent to our lounge and as a result the wife is spitting feathers when she tries to use her laptop. The issue as far as I can see is that the dividing walls in our home are made of cement block rather than the stud partitions more commonly found these days.

Can anyone give me a good idea how to boost the signal on a Virgin 10/100 network? (we can't get cable in our area).

But first try changing the wireless channel on your router, it may be conflicting with a neighbour's network on the same channel.
Or use a pair of Homeplugs.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
