Hose for shower too short- wont send a new one

I bought a shower with some mixer taps last week to go on our bath as we dont currently have a shower.
My boyfriend and a friend spent about 4-5 hours plumbing the taps in on Saturday, they go to fix the hose on and its too short.
I measured it and its 140cms long, which comes up to under your shoulders when you go to use it as a shower.
I just called the company and they just said its the standard hose that comes with that tap and I need to buy a longer one.
Am I asking too much for them to provide me with a hose that you can actually use in a shower without me having to go out and spend more money?
Thanks

If it was clear on the display/packaging before you bought it that it was 140cm long then I think you are stuffed. Shower hoses are not expensive, I wouldn't have thought it was worth getting aerated about.

It sounds more like the shower attachment is for washing your hair over the bath and not having a proper shower.

You can find longer hoses on ebay or at DIY stores

That is almost impossible to believe.

Sorry, but you have bought the wrong length hose.

Go out and buy another one.

1.4m is plenty long enough for a fixed shower.

Maybe you need a longer one to reach up from bath taps.

    How tall are you?
1.4m would be way above my head from bath taps.

Assuming your bath is a at a regular height of around 0.55m from finished floor level, your shower head with a 1.4m hose would be around 1.95m from finished floor level.(i've not allowed for the height of the tap)

You'll probably be raised from the finished floor level by 15cm by the bath, so the shower head is probably at a height of 1.8m from the surface you stand at. Which is about 6ft in old money. This seems normal for a mixer tap shower.

If your not happy with this, you probably need to to get a longer hose or get a proper shower fitted.

  • There are two standard lengths you get with showers. If you have an old, enamel, deep bath, it is feasible that the longest is just a bit too short.

    Sorry.

Are you really 4 and a half foot tall?

Certainly not. Neither am I over 6ft tall.

My bath tap is over 450mm above the inside surface of the bath.

That means, with a 1.4m hose the shower head would be over six feet above where one stands.

A more pertinent question might be...
does the OP measure over six feet to the shoulders?
  • That means, with a 1.4m hose the shower head would be over six feet above where one stands.

That would be true for taps that have the hose attachment at the top of the unit, but many of themhave the hose fitting at the bottom.
With these ones, there would be about 1' of hose wasted where it forms a loop for it to go upwards again.
