only loses its alcohol if you let it boil
second the low setting on the slow cooker could have been invented for this.0 -
I made some last night for my party. A slight deviation on the one posted, but it was fantastic.
3 liter bottle of shop brand cider
1 lemon sliced
1 orange sliced
3-5 cinamon sticks
pinch grated nutmeg
6 cloves
1/2 lb sugar white and brown to taste, as cider can be quite dry/tart (add more if you think it's not sweet enough)
Boil it all up and keep it warm.
add a touch of brandy or spirit if you wish.
You can pretty much mess with it and add anything, it will work.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
I made some mulled wine yesterday and it went down a treat and everyone had seconds
1 bottle full bodied red wine
1 1/4 pints water
1 orange spiked with cloves and then cut into sections
1 lemon cut into sections
1" cinnamon stick
1 tsp grated ginger (or dried)
2 tbs sugar
1tbs any liquor I used grand marnier (optional)
Cover, simmer very gently for at least 20 mins. I used one of those simmer trays with little spikes on it and it stayed happily on there for ages
