900mm kitchen wall units anybody?

Hunting a new fitted kitchen. But my beloved wants the wall units to the ceiling. She cannot stand cleaning above the units.
But the designs so far all offer wall units not to the ceiling. Presumably because a height of 726mm is the standard option. Sadly there is not enough room for a tiddler on top as that seems to give 726mm+394mm - too much for our wee kitchen.
And made to measure would blow our budget out of the water.
Please anyone know of kitchen wall units of 900mm height?

Ikea's wall cabinets are available in either 70cm or 92cm heights?0

Howdens do 'extra tall' 900mm wall cabinets now - which is annoying as I'd have gone for these last year if they had been on offer then
Wren (ducks for cover ) also did 900mm tall when I was looking last year.0 -
ic I tried to battle my way through their site but ended up a little uninspired. IKEA just isn't me I guess but thanks for the suggestion.
Tx barneyg I'll give Howdens a buzz tomorrow but can find no reference to the extra height wall units in their doc or site. And my quote was from them. I had requested such things and they just offered the standard size without comment.
OK they laughed when I said I wanted at one end units to the ceiling but not too high!!! Well I knew what I meant :rotfl:
In the meantime I have been pointed at refreshinteriors.co.uk of Newbury who do them just in case anyone else hates cleaning cupboard tops :beer:I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0 -
It might not be all ranges I suppose - if it helps mine's a Greenwich dark walnut, and they're on the spec sheet:

Good luck0 -
Quite a few companies do them now. If you dont mind buying of the net you cant really go wrong with diy-kitchens. If high street try your independent showrooms or cook and lewis range at b and qHunting a new fitted kitchen. But my beloved wants the wall units to the ceiling. Tx guys. Unfortunately barney it is only that one range and they said this morning no plans to make them available for other ranges.
From what I've learned over night the negs are:
The design can look a bit top heavy or enclosed
Cracks can be a problem as ceilings not perfect
Some argue you cannot easily access the space but my wife argues you cannot easily clean up there either :j
And I guess it is more storage for little cost.

You could always have one of those book case ladders and have it on a rail around the kitchen - that way if you go for 900mm you can reach the top shelf, if you don't you can clean the top :cool:0

We are in a very similar sounding position and have the Howden's designer coming round tomorrow morning.
The only solution I can find so far - using Howdens sizes - is to have 1000mm top boxes (I think they're 27.5mm tall).
Planning to have 400, 600, 600, 400 wall units below this so that at least the edges and centres match.
This may look a bit higgledy-piggeldy but we really want the storage.
We're going to ask him to let us see what it looks like (on his fancy 3d drawing) to see if we can live with the look (it doesn't look bad at all on my google sketchup attempt)
Our builders have also said that they would be able to lower the base units by 50mm or so (and possibly reduce the distance from worktop to wall unit) to get the bigger (600x394) units in.
I'll let you know what the designer says.0 -
Deladuro I had my Howden 3Ds sent through a few days ago. I called them with a few changes and received the new drawings by email two hours later. Very helpful, very knowledgeable, and no hassle.
We've decided to fit the wall units as is, leaving a 5-6 inch gap at the top. Once in place we will decide whether to live with the gap or fill it in with wood panel.
I was going to look at companies with 900mm wall units but have found no one as easy to do business with as howdens. The retail kitchen designers seem to want to trap you in their shops and do the heavy sell. Life's too short for that.
Hope you enjoy yourself :beer:I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0
