CRB check for Sole Trader

How does one go about getting themself CRB certified?
The situation is this:
My husband is a sole trader and runs discos & karaoke. He began the business last year and all is going quite well with it and most of what he's done has been the usual pubs, weddings etc. He's set to do a disco for a local scouting group, and although they don't require him to be CRB checked as he'll never be left alone with the kids, we thought being able to add the CRB certification details to the website would be a good idea and might make parents looking for someone to do their child's b'day party more keen to book him over someone who doesn't show such certification.
So how would we do this?
Also - would he get it done under his registered company name AB Enterprises or under his company trading name? - He trades as both AB Entertainment for the discos & karaoke and AB Interiors for building fitted furniture etc.
Here's hoping this makes sense and someone can advise me.
Many thanks

I have never heard of DJs being CRB checked. I don't think it is necessary because the DJ is never going to be left alone with kids - parents tend to be at the parties anyway.
If he were to be CRB checked then it would be arranged via the entertainment side of the business not the furniture building side.
Personally, I don't think there is a need to be honest.0 -
my husband is CRB checked for dog walking as he goes in people houses, the only place he could get one as a sole trader was via disclosure Scotland, I think it cost £250

Interestingly, according to the DirectGov site,
but it appears that Disclosure Scotland will take your money off you:Can you apply for your own criminal record check?
The self-employed or individuals can’t legally apply for a criminal record check on themselves.
However, note that the basic disclosure would not have flagged up any concerns about the Soham caretaker which got the CRB going.Who can apply for disclosure?
Anyone can apply for a basic disclosure in their own name.
There is also the option of applying for a Subject Access Request via your local police force, but I'm not entirely clear whether that would bring up all convictions or only those your local police force knows about.
However I'm with Horace: you wouldn't leave a DJ alone / unsupervised with children. And if a CRB check is needed, the employer or organiser who feels it's needed should be asking for it (and paying for it!)Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
