Argos Loans

I took out a loan for £3k in 2004 with Argos Loans, the company told me they could only offer me that rate of interest with PPI, would this entitle me to claim this back.

Also I am not sure which company argos used to underwrite the loan, I registered with Expedian Credit Report to try and find out but it wasn't registered on there. I have no copies of the Paperwork is there any other way to fidn out.

To what I know of you would still have to pursue Argos on this matter anyway, as they were the ones responsible for setting up your loan, the insurer would be to use if you had to make a claim for example sickness/unemployment etc.
However, sometimes the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) suggests this avenue (insurer/undewriter) if the company (Argos in your case) were not regulated at the time you taken out the loan, as they have to regulated/governed by normally the FSA if the ombudsman was to investigate.
Where the insurer would possibly have been regulated.

Normally Credit reports only go back to the last 6 years, but saying that if the loan is still or was still active within the last 6 years they should to my knowledge hold some details.
Maybe try another company like Equifax, some offer 30 days free.

But in your case go to Head office or complaints first of Argos with yours and follow the steps to reclaiming below.

Send and keep a copy and allow 8 weeks for a decision.
