Tried this recipe at the weekend and it worked a treat! And I was a bit worried about the consistency but in many ways it was more malleable than shop bought, and tasted just as good, if not better.

    thanks again!

    Thanks TL

These all look a bit complicated for me but a few months ago I wouldn't have attempted half the things I do now. (in the kitchen!)

There was some rosewater essence next to the orange flower water - now that sounds lovely!

PS thanks for all your help people. wish I could send you all a bit of cake!

I was also stunned  at the price of the stuff in most supermarkets - however, new Lidl opened this week in my local town and lo and behold, marzipan rolls 99p each - so I bought 6! I reckon enough to do my 2 large and 2 small cakes, then there's just the pesky icing - ho hum.:D
And when you give a cake as a present people think it's a cheap option! One of these days I will tot up exactly what it does cost!:A

In lidl yesterday and marzipan rolls were 49p each. Its obviously not as nice as HM but a cheap option IMO.

Also last years Lidl marzipan was really YELLOW!!! But this years is just yellow!!

BBC GoodFood website has an easier marzipan recipe :

Not sure what it tastes like though :)
