Yep..and round my way you have to pay just to go on the waiting list.
It's crazy money.
I'm totally in two minds at the moment about going back to my job in January. It's a real quandry as there are so many reasons not to go back there, but being a full time SAHM I think would drive me round the bend!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Wow, well done for being so organised!
I'm expecting a baby in September, and although we know my husband will be looking after the baby one day a week and his mum another day, that's as far as we got with the childcare provisions...
We're of the 'work out the numbers nearer going-back-to-work-time and see whether part time / full time / SAHM works for us' school.
I'm afraid I have nothing valuable to contribute to you personally, but I will be watching this thread eagerly for the advice that others can give.0 -
Hi
When my two were at nursery we were able to claim childcare vouchers. Although don't know if they're still available.
The cost of the childcare was deducted from my salary before so I didn't pay tax & NI. It saved approx £1000 per year.

Thanks again for all of the very helpful info everyone. Some great insight.
Will definitely look into the vouchers, I work for a University (with nursery) and wife works for a college so should we are always fine for flexible working

Just checked with my employer and realised that because the nursery is connected to my place of work, I can sacrifice and unlimited amount of salary (i.e. the full cost) per year...
Should mean the fees would be about £5500 rather than £7500 per year.... so just over £100 a week.... a bit better than £140...
