Hi there,
I had a loan with lombard direct with a hefty chunk of PPI, this loan was repaid in full in 2002.
I thought that I could reclaim the PPI as it was mis-sold, so I wrote to Lombard (now part of RBS) to request all info held/copies of paperwork etc.
They replied saying I needed to send them a £10 cheque, which I duly sent off to them. They replied saying that all closed accounts were only recognisable by account number, they couldnt access closed accounts by any other way. I no longer have my account number which is why I made the SAR request in the first place.
Does anyone have any advice for me, or am I chasing a lost cause??
Thanks in advance for any help/info!!!

Give the ICO a call. Details are on this website https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx
I believe they do legally have to give you all information they hold on you (assuming they haven't deleted it now).

Millie-how did you get on with this please? I half suspect I'm going to get a similar response in the next few days requesting an a/c number I do not know.0

A Data Subject Access Request entitles you to all information held on you in what is known as a relevant filing system. A relevant filing system means one which a reasonably competent person could retrieve the data from. The rule of thumb is "could a temp find it?".
In this case, a temp could not find it because they would need the account number to do so. Therefore, for the purposes of the exercise, it is not held in a relevant filiing syste,0 -
If the debt was cleared nearly a decade ago then chances are that the documentation either no longer exists or much of it will not be in a relevant filing system.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
