    While you're at it, have you tried the Warm Homes initiative? If you're on income related benefits you could have a free check of your home and they carry out any work necessary to make it draft proof, properly insulated and with an efficient and cost effective heating system. All Free!

    Actually freecycle is a really good idea and I hadn't thought of that - my Mum and Dad have just done the whole of their downstairs re-done which resulted in them having a two year old wool carpet to give away because the dimensions of the living room had changed and they couldn't get it to fit again. I was miffed because only a couple of months ago I got a new bedroom carpet and would have waited - typical:cool: but, someone got a gem as my mum is a clean freak and for the cost of fitting and some underlay you may be lucky!

    Or try a wanted ad in the local paper or newsagents?
