    While you're at it, have you tried the Warm Homes initiative? If you're on income related benefits you could have a free check of your home and they carry out any work necessary to make it draft proof, properly insulated and with an efficient and cost effective heating system. All Free!
  • Actually freecycle is a really good idea and I hadn't thought of that - my Mum and Dad have just done the whole of their downstairs re-done which resulted in them having a two year old wool carpet to give away because the dimensions of the living room had changed and they couldn't get it to fit again. I was miffed because only a couple of months ago I got a new bedroom carpet and would have waited - typical:cool: but, someone got a gem as my mum is a clean freak and for the cost of fitting and some underlay you may be lucky!

    Or try a wanted ad in the local paper or newsagents?
