Best Cashback Cards

Just because new cards are £30 doesn't mean the old cards are going up. They'd have to give us notice of that.
I'm not sure about this, but I think they might have us over a barrell here.
If you close your card before the end of the year you might forfeit cashback (need to check).
If you go into the next year you get the fee.
Don't know if you can ask them to close it on the year boundary.
I guess it depends if the card opening anniversary is immediately after Jan or not. If it just before Jan say Nov/Dec then they can give a notice of fee increase a month or two earlier (sept/oct) and one will have to pay the increased fee before the cashback and bonus becomes available in Jan or close the card and lose the cashback and bonus. On the other hand if it is immediately after Jan say Feb/March then as soon as the cashback+bonus is received the card can be closed escaping the higher fee. And the further out the anniversary date is the bigger decision as to pay the increased fee or forgo the benefits. Of course all this is theoretical assuming that the fee will be increased0 -

Yes, it's theorectical, but at least now we are forewarned, we can all check those small print leaflets that sometimes come in the post.0
