Cost of digital aerial?

But on the MoneySaving front, if you dont feel up to installing an aerial yourself, ring round a few and look for smaller ones (one man bands even), it may not be a digital aerial you need, but just a updated one, or even putting yours back in place as it has moved with the weather if in place for a few years. Larger aerial firms seem to think of a number and double or treble it.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0

An installer whom I know personally is a real spiv and I noticed he'd advertised in the local paper:
 "Digital aerials fitted for Freeview.
 Standard fitting £95
 Deluxe fitting £125
 Super-Deluxe £145"
I asked him "what's the difference between Standard and Super-Deluxe?" (knowing full well what the answer would be).
"Fifty quid", he replied. (I was right).
"And how many customers have gone for the Super-Deluxe?"
"All of 'em", he replied. "There's one born every minute and if they want to pay me top whack, that's their choice".0

Might be worth noting that often freeview boxes will work on an ordinary anolog aerial. I have a freeview box working on the anolog ariel for my block of flats. So its a shared aerial and all is fine. Yes you get the occasional blips where it freezes for a second, or the image goes blocky. But according to my dad who has a digital aerial and freeview this apparently stills happens on his. So if you just want the aerial for using freeview you might well get away without replacing your existing one.0
