quick question regarding renting a flat

Hi guys

I am currently living with my sister and her boyfriend, they have a baby on the way and want me out by end of summer.

I am thinking of renting a flat.

My question is, can the money come out of my mums account each month to pay for the flat and bills? She will not be living there tho

Landlord won't care where it comes from - as long as it comes!

If I was to get a flat with a friend, can hlaf the money come out my friends account and the rest out of my mums?

Only reason its coming out of my mums is 1. I cant afford it all, and 2. my credit rating aint that good.

That's a question you should ask your landlord really. No one on here could answer that.

If not, your friend could set a standing order to your mums account and then the whole lot comes out of one account.
Which is fine as long as you really trust your friend.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If your credit rating, by your own admission, is not good, it may put a landlord off renting to you in the first place, as most would require formal credit checks before you rent. You can offer your mother as a guarantor, which will bind her to the contract, and help put LL's mind at rest if your credit checks ring alarm bells. Your mother would then also need a credit check to verify she could meet the rent if you cannot.

Similarly, if you rent with a friend, LL would want you both named on the tenancy agreement, and make you jointly liable, so if one cannot pay, the other would have to meet the whole amount. LL would probably be happy to accept payment split between 2 accounts, but you would need to check this before you commit to anything binding.

If you cannot meet the rent payment, would you qualify for LHA assistance?

Then your difficulty is persuading the landlord to rent you the flat, not persuading him to accept rent from your mum's account!
