Hi All
We currently have a timber framed windows, and a number of them are starting to warp/rot, and we want to get them replaced with uPVC.
We have just had our first quote today from a very reputable large local firm, for A-rated windows.
There are quoting 13,860 inc vat and installation and making good afterwards - obvioulsy I will try and haggle, but just wondering what people thought of this figure ? The windows and sizes etc are in the images below .

Sorry..have you miss typed..was that thirteen thousand pounds ??Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

You should be able to get it done for half that figure.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Its a local group called Hazelmere - who have a very good reputation.0 -
I wouldn't pay nearly £14,000 for that. The images you uploaded include a back door and patio doors, are they included in the quote or was the quote just for the 16 windows?
Make sure you get at least 3 or 4 different quotes, decide which ones you like, then play them off against each other and keep on knocking them down.
I paid £4,500 for 7 windows and a back door (they were high spec and very good quality) by a small local firm so I would have thought you could get that done for around £8k or so with the patio and back doors. It does depend on the quality and spec of the windows and doors though.0 -
It includes the back door and the patio doors in the quote.0

Ok. I suggest you get a couple more quotes to compare. It's really difficult to say whether a quote is good or not without actually knowing the spec of the windows and doors and how easy or difficult the installation would be, etc, etc. £14,000 sounds too high but I'm sure you can get them for quite a bit less than that with a bit of haggling.
Good luck.0 -
That sounds well over priced I agree with others you should be able to get it a lot cheaper than that more like about 6-8k tops0
