Can anybody help me make the switch? Im facing redundancy atm so I have my hands full, the last thing I need is to be going through site after site of false promise enegry tariffs.
Basically Im a dual fuel customer who has been using online variable accounts the last 3 years. EDF will switch me to their standard tariff comes July 1. I live in DL14 and pay by monthly direct debit. Im currently paying £40 gas and £35 electric but I understand that prices are going up so my next deal will come with higher monthly payments. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Credit card and overdraft at 18. 2 loans and 3 storecards at 20. University education flushed down the toilet through debt at 22. Car finance at 23. Car repossessed at 24. Rock bottom at 25. Learnt my lesson 26-33. Now 34 with a mortgage on an affordable house, a car paid for with cash and a bank account in credit. I learnt the hard way.

I have no idea if it's the best deal for you, but I've just switched from EDF OSV6 onto their fixed rate until 2014 as I'm expecting prices to rise not only in the short term but the longer term too. I don't have gas though as it isn't available in my village. If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0

Interesting to see that that fixed deal has a lower standing charge for both gas (22.56p(3.556p)) and electric (21.89p(12.19p)) than OSV6.
Are you happy to stay with EDF for that long taxsaver? Nothing against them personally but their online account is way behind the likes of Scottish Powers. Also the lack of Nectar points which we did pretty good out of.Credit card and overdraft at 18. 2 loans and 3 storecards at 20. University education flushed down the toilet through debt at 22. If you fix on FR14 you know what your payments will be as your pending redundancy looming. Personally I changed from OSV6 to FR14 last week. All done in 5 minutes over phone with no hassle.0

Can I still use online account and paperless billing with a fixed rate account?Credit card and overdraft at 18. 2 loans and 3 storecards at 20. Use a comparison site - they do all the hard work for you on just one site ... although good to double check on another to ensure you get the same result.
At present, unless you have good reasons otherwise, I would suggest you fix/cap your tariff as Martin suggests. This is especially so in your financial position, so at least you know what you will have to pay.
The variable rates will look cheap but expect them to go up apart from SP who have already shown their hand. Even so, some are suggesting prices may rise again by the winter, so again cap/fix may be the best for you."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Yes LP you can.0

Ahh just found a button on the bottom of the online account for changing products.
Fix 2014 will see my monthly payments go up to £92 a month.
Fix Saver will cost £80
Online Saver 10 £79
Online Saver 12 £81
Standard £89
So at max we talking a £204 increase over what Im paying now. And a £36 increase on what I will be paying from 1st July when I drop onto the standard tariff.Credit card and overdraft at 18. 2 loans and 3 storecards at 20. Yes I am as I've had no problems with them and their OSV6 worked out the cheapest for me by a big margin. In any event the charges for early termination are imo very reasonable and fair.If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0 -
I hate using monthly payments as it can give very misleading results, but its the only data you've given me, so here goes.
You do realise FR14 has a suggested annual cost of £1070 whilst you could have Fixed Saver V2 for just £964 - over £100 per year saving?
Or cheaper still you could have SP Direct for £923 - but that's variable
I realise FR14 is until 2014 and FSV2 only 2012, but a year is a long time in this market - 3 years perhaps too long on a fix? Prices may go down as well as up ..."Now to trolling as a concept. .... If they go down, which I seriously doubt, then I can get out of the fix for a very small cost. The extra 2 years of the fxd14 will pay off handsomely imho.If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0
