I desperately need a new Apple computer.
I earn money from its use so its a necessity
The one I'm looking at is £1399 + vat
My credit rating used to be bad but will have improved in last 2 years or so.
I plan to pay at least the minimum each month - preferably over 16 months
any recommendations?

What have you done to monies from previous Apples/computers?
Do you have any savings?
You plan to pay the minimum for 16 months what then?
You will have barely touched the surface of the amount borrowed.
What does your credit report say about you?
Sorry for all the questions but they need to be answered before we can advise further.0 -
Do you desperately need a £1700 computer, or do you need a computer that does x, y and z that could be bought/ built for far less?Gone ... or have I?0

I think OP meant to say "I've convinced myself that I deparately need a computer capable of doing X, Y, and Z, but not just doing them, doing them very quickly. And I've convinced myself it absolutely has to be from one of the most expensive manufacturers available with one of the poorest price to performance ratios around, as I deparately need one that looks quite stylish".
I bet the OP could get a computer capable of doing everything they need for £500 or so.
However the best 0% Purchase cards out there are the M&S one and this one:

If you want to see if you're credit rating is any good, put your details in here:

In fairness to the OP - they may require an Apple computer if they (for example) make their money from coding iphone/ipad apps.
However, they don't need one costing £1399 + VAT - they could go with the basic white Macbook for that - believe me - I've done it.
If the discussion is around graphics packages - then I might be more willing to accept the 'I need the really expensive computer' argument - but it's really more about needing the expensive graphics and expensive monitors. I actually think that if you're into proper graphics work - then the Apple Macs are some of the best screens you can work with.
OP - you've been given advice about the best credit cards already - but if this is about graphics work - I'd suggest you look to up your rates so that you have savings for the next time.0 -
Good to see someone knowing what they're talking about RE: why the OP may need an Apple. For serious graphic designers, PCs simply aren't an option. Also, you can't self build a Mac in the same way you can build a PC - you can't just go to maplin and buy parts - you'll need a level of technical knowledge to build a hackintosh that most people don't have.. DMG24 and Izools should have known what they were talking about before jumping in pretty much just to take cheap shots off the op.0

I understand that OP may require an IPS display to help with colour uniformity for graphic design. An IPS Flexview from Lenovo or Apple Cinama monitor are very good for this sort of work.
I do know what I'm on about, don't worry. I just bet OP could do what he needs, for less.
But yes, IPS displays are beautiful. I missed my old one. That, however was in a second hand Thinkpad T43p. It had a 100GB 7200RPM hard drive, XP SP3, 2GB RAM and ATI Fire GL 3200 128MB graphics. Not to mention a 15" 1600x1200 IPS Flexview display. #250.00 off ebay.
That ran Adobe CS4 flawlessly.
But that's by the by - I did mention two 0% purchase cards and a link to the Barclaycard Eligibility Checker so that OP can find out if his credit has indeed improved prior to applying to anyone - potentially unsuccessfully.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
