Credit card statement

Yesterday, when I logged onto my Barclaycard online banking, a statement has appeared along with the amount to be paid. Payment is due in 22 days (i.e. 5 July).

The direct debit has been setup according to the Barclaycard online banking. I also checked my Barclays online banking, and my bank account also shows that the direct debit is set up. However, when clicking on the direct debit setup on my account on the Barclays online banking, it says:The amount you last paid: sp.gif £0.00 The date you last paid: 00/00/0000 . On the summary page of payments, nothing under the 'date' and the 'how much' section. :S Should I assume it's too early to mention the date on my bank account?

I assume the bank will debit my account on 1 July so it could meet the 5 July payment due date? :o

If the DD is set up and active it will go from your bank account on 5 July. It won't show up on the bank account online until then in any more detail than it does now.

Unless you have a formal statement saying that the amount WILL be collected on a specific date by DD then it won't be. I've always found online statements a bit dodgy - in the sense they aren't always accurate as to the amount to be collected

Your bank account will only ever show the last payment taken, as I presume there haven't been any yet it shows £0.00 and 00/00/0000.

It should say on your credit card statement when Barclaycard will take the next payment from your bank account. Your bank account will never show any information about pending/future DDs, only ones that have been paid.

My AmEx DD is always taken about a week before the due by date, it is unlikely that barclaycard will apply the DD on the day the payment is due.

As dzug says, if there is nothing on your Barclaycard statement saying they will collect by DD, then assume it won't happen.

    Hope that helps.

My experience is that they (Barclaycard) do apply the DD on the day payment is due, and that that's the date that appears on both the Barclaycard and the bank statement.

Yes, the only issue I can imagine if it was set up during the printing of the statement, so the printed statement does not show that it will be taken, which can be unsettling. If it is all right, then the "Pay your card bill", "Review your direct debit" section would state "Your direct debit set up", with the date/amount.
    Enjoy the silence...
