Fireplace removal and refitting

We've bought a house that has three fireplaces with surrounds. All are hideous, hideous 70s jobs. Two have electric heaters stuck on the front.
We would like all of them removed completely. We want one replaced with a non-working new fireplace and surround, that we would buy; we want the other two just sealed up and the wall re-plastered (with any necessary vents).
Who would we approach for this? A general builder? A fireplace specialist?
If anyone has done a similar thing, any idea of ballpark costs? We live on the border of Cheshire/Manchester, if anyone has specific recommendations for tradespeople.
Thanks in advance!

Builder should be able to do but remember to cap of the pots. The decorative fireplace i'd just have a surround fitted and a FIRE BASKET you have a marble hearth fitted but I don't think it's worth it especially if you have young children.0

A general builder would do this.
Alow a couple of guys a couple of days. Plus materials and tipping of waste. Allow £800 - £900 and you should be about there.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Thanks very much - that's really helpful. Will start getting some estimates.0
