Question for E.ON representative - Fix Online 8
Our deal with E.ON is coming to an end (1st July). Loking to switch now but concious that if switch happens before 1st July, we have to pay cancellation fee. I'd assume that a switch would take around a month but to be on the safe side, should we wait another week or so before I start the process of moving to another supplier?!?

Have just come off the phone to E.ON. They tried to tell me that if we initiate a switch now and they receive a 'loss notification' before 1 July then they will charge me a termination fee. When I pointed out that this is unfair as the switch would be unlikely to be concluded before 1 July the adviser said that they would 'place a note on my account' and waive any fees. :mad:0

The Eon rep has 'disappeared'. Although previously he did say that as long as the actual switch date occurs after 1 July, then there will be no termination fees and you'll get a discount on your final FOL8 bill. The reason for this is that you would still be an Eon customer, on FOL8 until 1 July. If Eon attempt to charge early termination fees just because they've received notification of a switch, then they're breaking the terms of the contract.0

Hi HUFCsteve
Sorry, missed your question yesterday.
I'm also sorry you were given duff info when you called in. Provided you complete the full term of the contract, you will not receive a cancellation fee for changing supplier.
Additionally, you'll receive all the discount applicable to Fixonline 8 even if part of this falls within the final bill.
We don't usually give discount on final bills when changing supplier. An exception is where the term of a contract has been completed in full.
Switches usually take between 4 to 6 weeks to go through. Therefore, you should be well in if you start the switch now.
Again, sorry for the poor advice but hope this clears this up. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Malc,
I have switched from Saveonline3 to Fix 5 over the weekend. before completing the switch, I submitted my meter readings and obtained a new bill, which shows that I am slightly in credit (just over 6 pounds).
Two questions:
1) what happens now regarding the £30 penalty which EON says it may levy on people who get out of Saveonline3 before its natural expiry? I mean, if the £30 is levied, HOW will it be levied? (added to my balance to be taken out of future bills, or will I be billed separately or what else?)
2) My DD payments have been pretty much spot on for the last 18 months or so (appropriate given my actual consumption etc). However, having switched to what is at the moment a more expensive tariff, I expect that keeping my DD at the levels they are now will create a deficit. I don't mind that per se (It's only temporary after all), but I do not want EON to change/increase such DDs arbitrarily to an 'odd' amount in 3 months time. Accordingly, I would live to voluntarily increase my DDs starting from now. The question is: can I decide to increase my DDs, and will be given the option to name an amount (within reason of course)?
Thank you0 -
Hi Botany
I would say it's very unlikely a cancellation fee will be charged in your case.
Where these fees are applied, they are added to the account balance as a debit.
Customers with online accounts can see them on the Account History when logging into their accounts. Those not registered with our website will see them listed on their next paper bill.
I agree, as Fixed Price 5 is more expensive than Saveonline 3, you'll more than likely need to increase your Direct Debit to stop your account building up a debt.
The increase will be based on past usage and the new prices. The aim is to achieve a zero balance by the time of the annual review next spring.
Direct Debits are automatically reviewed after each scheduled bill. Therefore, you're right to assume we'll probably increase the payments after the next scheduled bill given the changed circumstances.
Let us know if you would like to review your Direct Debit before this. We'll be happy to do this for you. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer, I'll be glad to take a look.
Hope this answers your questions Botany. Give me a shout if I can help further as happy to do so.
