Urgent help needed with Hotpoint WD645

Hi, we are going on holiday tommorow and loads of clothes we need for the holiday were in the machine when water spewed out of the dispensing tray, so we turned it off at the switch and rang Hotpoint who can't send anyone til friday, and told me to manually drain it which I've done. But, its been caused by a block in the filter, but I can't find the actual filter! No idea what it looks like, all I know is its at the back of the machine so have unscrewed the back panel, but just can't see what I need to do! any help would be greatly appreciated

I did once have a machine that had to be upended to clear the filter because it was at the bottom - not great, but effective when cleared(and needed two people)0

Does this model have a small plastic frontage that can be removed (generally found at the bottom of the front). It sometimes runs across the whole face of the machine. Behind this you will find the filter to unscrew and clean. Beware that there will be residual water so keep a towel handy!0

cant see it being the filter .sounds like your float switch isnt working ..so the machine is not getting signal that the water has reached the right level when filling..so carries on filling to the top ...even that should not happen as the drain hoses are lower ..or should be ?? .
you could also take the drawer out ..and have a look if there is an accumulation of powder in the space that the drawer goes into .
drawer should be taken out about every 20 washes and cleaned anyway , that usually entails once the drawer is out...taking out of the drawer, the fabric conditioner cover ...and cleaning and making sure the siphon tube is clear in the cover.
all the best.markj0 -
There should be a float or pressure switch up near the top of the machine, they all look different but normally have a thinnish plastic tube leading into them. The switch has a small hole in them, and quite often gets blocked with limescale, and needs cleaning out, or the tube may be bunged up. Check by blowing down it.

thankyou for all the replies - I gave up trying earlier but might give it another go. Jimmy I did actually use that link before posting on here but its the bit where it says "clean out the filter" - I dont know which bit the filter is so can't see what to do. The other link someone posted there isn't a red coloured bit in mine but thankyou for looking.
I know it must be the filter because its happened before where its leaked on the floor (but never out of the dispenser) and I've had an engineer out, but as we are leaving tommorow I don't have time to get one in.
To the poster who asked we use liquitabs and not powder so its not that. The posts about a water gauger are interesting, I hadn't considered it could be that. Is that something I could fix myself?
Thankyou everyone who replied
