Desperately slow LAN connection

I am using a PC with a usb broadband dongle without a problem and have today tried to connect with a lan cable to see if it is faster. With the cable I can connect to the internet but the connection is unbelieveably slow, 2/3 minuits to change page, if it changes at all. Some pages simply time out. Reverting back to wireless and everything is fine. I am selling on ebay today so not too keen to alter much in case I loose my connection, but am I missing something obvious?

go to device manager, and look for updates to your network card drivers first......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Restore it to factory settings and wipe free space with ccleaner if you don't want your data being accessible by the new owner!!

if you hover over the network connection icon near the clock in the bottom right corner, it'll tell you what speed you're connected. It sounds like you could be connected at 10mbps rather than 100, so you might either have the network card set to 10mbps rather than 100mbps or you only have a 10mb router.0
