Quality affordable cat food

Hello

I know there have been a few threads on similar topics however I have read through them and not found what I am looking for.

I have three and a half cats (one lives with neighbours and visits sporadically) two are a healthy weight and very active and one is highly overweight, he is rescued and came to us that way. In the past we have always given our cats unlimited access to dry food and I have been told that a wet food diet would be best for our bigger boy.

Now I would like to feed a reasonable quality and affordable wet food while keeping to a realistic cost. What wet food would people recommend? We have tried them on cans before and they refuse to touch it, sachets seem to be fine but I don't know which brand offers the best quality for the best price?

Thank you in advance for your advice!

Which brands and style of foods do they like - in gravy, in jelly, pate style, meaty or fishy? Which brands of canned foods have you tried and failed with? Have you tried raw meat? Have you tried warming the new food slightly, mixing one with another or mashing jelly into the chunks? Are you still offering 'kitty crack' alongside (dry food! :p)? Is your tubby rescue fussy or just the others?

Best quality for the price is Bozita which contains around 90% meat. They do pate in cans, a different recipe pate in tetrapacks, chunks in gravy and chunks in jelly in tetrapacks. They sell online for ~£1 per pack unless you buy bulk so ~25p per pouch, HOWEVER as they contain less fillers the portion size is lower than with most of the big name brands. :D If you want cheaper then Butchers Classic pate (tins, ~12p per pouch) and Tesco Claude in gravy or jelly (~17p per pouch) both go down well with many cats, and both are grain-free and additive-free.

    Alternatives include
Tesco Luxury flaked chicken pouches (not Finest) are around 50% meat and good value when on offer (~25p per pouch), Asda stock Feline Fayre (60% chunks of fish but NOT complete, ~25p per pouch) and Toplife pate tetrapacks 80% meat at £1.17. Pets at Home Purely 60% chunks of fish small tins are good value only when on offer (~24p per pouch) but the meaty pouches are expensive. Sometimes Home Bargains and B&M stock HiLife Essentials 50% flaked chicken (~30p per pouch).

Pets at home's purely is a good food for the price. If you have a home bargains near you they sell hilife puches for 19p each. They have 60% meat.

Also I've seen pets at home have natures menu (about 70% meat) offers like 48 pouches for £19.
