I have hunted for this recipe and can't find it. Can anyone post a link please as I would really love to try it please.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Only thing I would say, is that when my DS was first born (and I bf'd too) is nothing can prepare you for the sheer hunger that you experience. And you need to eat calories (there is a saying "you have to feed mum, so that she can feed the baby") you are not advised to diet/eat low fat whilst breast feeding for this very reason. I ate loads (still do, still bf'ing) and have lost weight in the 8 months since I had DS0

Okay, I eventually found the recipe for the spiced lentils and SD tomatoes. Does anyone know what I can sub for the raisins? I really don't like dried fruit with savoury things, and I know that the family definitely wouldn't eat it.

Hi,
As well as your meal planning, remember to plan for snacks through the day. I used to take a plate of cheese cubes, apple slices, oatcakes etc upstairs with me so that I would have something to hand during the inevitable night feeds, when you are tired and hungry, and don't want to wake the baby. I would really, really, NOT make something like the Grocery Challenge your ultimate focus during the early days with a newborn. You will save money anyway by not being out and about so much when he/she is tiny!
And congrats for choosing breastfeeding. Aside from all the other benefits, it is definitely cheaper, even if you need to eat a bit more. So even if you have to spend a few quid extra on healthy, filling meals and snacks for you, you will be saving £10-20 at least just on baby formula.

If you are thinking of making cakes, you can make a batch of mini-sponges or cupcakes (depending on the type of tins you have available), wait for them to cool, wrap them in clingfilm, then foil and then freeze them. That way you can have a small cake whenever you feel like it.MFW 2019 #61: £13,936.60/£20,0000
