On the hidden menu the rf1 output also determines the scart format , and you can set it to 4:3 or 4:3L (whatever that is)

Yes I think I guessed that - the main SCART is connected to main (4:3) TV, want to connect a 2nd 16:9 TV via a 5.8 GHz sender - or find a good (maybe used) 4:3 lcd TV to connect remotely as that would dispense of the aspect ratio headache.

All this talk of legacy 4:3 screens is a bit pointless when there are great 32" 16:9 TVs floating around on Freecycle, pick 2 up? If you can lift them?!

Just a word of warning - the 5.8GHz video senders are absolutely awful. The sender & receiver have to be very close with a clear line of site to get good reception.

I bought one with the intention of sending the signal through one floor and one wall over approx 9m and the picture was terrible on all 8 frequencies.

Its a rented place part furnished and this includes the legacy TV in a nice antique wooden cabinet.

Point taken about the sender - this one needs a max range of 3m through 1 wall.

If possible, try before you buy - failing that, buy from somewhere that will accept a return. I made the mistake of buying from a private ebay seller who didn't accept returns... lesson learnt!

Agree, Maplin has 'em, and does a line of returned units at some 30% off - probably for that very reason.

Sky boxes can be set to produce a different aspect ratio on the RF2 output to the main output. So you could have 4x3 on the main scart output and 16x9 on the RF2.

It should be noted that you can't view both TV's at different aspect ratios at the same time though.... if you go to TV2 then the digibox outputs according the the 2nd location setting (and the box knows this as it receives via the magic eye at location 2

Most senders use a remote relay that is placed in front of the Sat box - so the Sat box will think the commands are coming from the standard remote? Is th enentioned magic eye a proprietary Sky thing?
