How much extra would you to be in the catchment area?

We had 2 mortgages and 1 job that's how much we were prepared to pay extra to be in catchment! My house was in negative equity so we rented it out at cost, and moved here, earlier than we expected to as the house was a bargain! Though my son wasn't 2 at the time, it was Secondary schools I had my eye on though. There's 17 Secondary schools here and only a handful I'd consider, and whilst I took a gamble that my 'chosen' school wouldn't go downhill in the interim decade, I knew enough about the schools and the areas they were in to know it was unlikley that the other schools would raise themselves to a level where I'd consider them.
Catchement is the 1st main criteria here, after children in public care, then siblings, then attended a feeder school though nursery does not count, then out of catchment.
60+ kids haven't got into the local Secondary for this September despite some of them being in category 3 (feeder school) so I'm glad I made the decision I did all those years ago.0
