Sending email to our database

Hello fellow MSE'ers,
We have steadily grown a database of customers that wants to receive updates from us regarding a new business.
We tried to send an e-mail to 375 people this afternoon via Outlook 2007 and Gmail (as the host of our domainname email address) and most of them have bounced back.
We were well within the 500 emails per 24 hours limit and split the e-mails into 99 recipients at a time.
It seems Googlemail didn't like the addresses all being in the bcc.
Obviously, we want to send emails rather than letters/postcards - so can anyone recommend how to go about doing this?
E-mailer software or companies?
Thanks
FJ

What's really annoying is, that we are sending a genuine e-mail to people who want to hear from us and we're having problems.
Spammers don't seem to have this problem when they send me e-mails about small blue pills and other equipment GRRR!

Gmail is like any other free web based email provider. They don't like mass email!
If you're a business you should have a domain based email account that can handle that.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
Try constantcontact or a similar service - they are whitelisted as they manage all your opt-outs and forwards/subscriptions for you, so you get a MUCH higher successful delivery rate than trying to use your own email ISP/webmail provider.0

I use mailchimp - I can have a list of 2000 email addresses on there. I set up campaigns and emails are then sent individually, each one addressed personally too. Mailchimp is free and dead easy to use.0
