where can i find out if a house is listed.

The house next door is up for sale and it is a really big old house with a coach house..i am wondering of what might happen to it,,so is there a place i can ask to see if it has listed status...The land alone has room for five detached and was on for 500k but has now been reduced.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

You'll also usually find that your LA's website will have a list of all listed buildings in their area.

it being listed won't preclude building in the grounds - unless it's the grounds that are listed.

I just fear that the whole building will go..its a lovely building but i for one would not like to pay for the upkeep as its over 120 years old and all the rooms are oak panelled with the outside black oak beams everywhere..

I doubt anyone would be able to knock it down but it is possibile the coach house could be modified and sold off separately or, depending on location, parts of the land could be built on. It think there are still pleny of extremely wealthy people about who want old country houses set in their own land so it could still sell and have no major changes at all.

you may not want to pay for the upkeep - but someone will.

You could almost certainly get a conversion on the garage. And maybe planning in the garden.
