Parking Suspended - Disabled

Hi,

The parking on our street has been suspended tomorrow from 9:00am til 4:30pm for the Whit Sunday Walks.

I am disabled and I have limited mobility and I have a Blue Badge in my car and am in the middle of applying for a Disabled parking bay outside my home.

I'm pretty sure the answer will be no, but, is there anything I can do to prevent having to move my car some 200 meters away onto a side street where the parking has not been suspended?

  • It's just one day, and only 200 metres. Can't you do whatever you usually do when you have to park 200 metres away from your destination? Just this once?

I thought they had to get a permit in advance and put notices up so people could object in plenty of time if needed??
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

"Sorry, the town fair this year has been cancelled due to a blue badge holder needing to park."

I'm afraid you'll just have to manage for seven hours or so, in the same way as if essential road/gas/water works had to be undertaken or when the road was presumably blocked by heavy snow and ice a few months back.

I don't mean to sound dismissive, but this inconvenience isn't for an eternity.

Why not just let whatever community event this is take place for seven hours out of the entire year without kicking up a fuss eh? :)

I'd be one of those people in your mind when you see me getting out of the car. However you don't see how bad I am 10 minutes later.

What, you're only disabled if you have one leg?

    Yes, of course there is.

Report them to the supermarket's management.

Nothing more official than that I'm afraid... it's private property.

Park behind them and then go shopping for an hour, I guarantee it will drive them nuts too.
