Domestic appliance rental

Has anyone used any national domestic appliance rental companies?

In fact I've only found one company that does my area (CT5) so far and I cant find any T&C on the website :(

And I cant find any local companies on the web either. I remember years ago, last time I had to rent anything was 11 years ago there used to be shops on the high street but I cant recall seeing one for years.

It is a washing machine and a fridge freezer that I need.

I'd be looking through the local paper for a really cheap second hand one (I got mine for about £20 each) and then save towards a new one. Rentals are still available but the cost of them far outweighs replacing the second hand ones regularly or even just borrowing the money and repaying a loan.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

2nd hand from a private seller is a problem as I dont drive, but thanks for the advice re the price of rental.

Trouble is I dont want to have to move them when I move house again in six months.

I don't drive either. Call up a man with a van to pick it up for you.

Appliance rental contracts tend to be for 12 months minimum so you'll have to pay to move them anyway even if you are moving in 6 months.

White goods are so cheap now that there is hardly any demand.
They've gone the way of rental TV's-anyone remember Radio Rentals? There used to be a branch on every high street until the mid-80's.

New Beko's are as low as £180. A rubbish brand, but it should last a year or so i'd hope:

Mate of mine bought one of them last September. It just died. Won't turn on. Engineer will be out on Monday to fix as still under warranty. Machine cost £179.97 plus £74.97 3 year extended warranty. £19.99 to deliver and install and £7.50 to recycle the old one. Total cost £282.43

A very similar machine from BrightHouse is £5.62 per week fully insured after 3 years the extended warranty expires and you can opt to keep it or get a new one. Total cost £876.72

Extended warranty on a Beko may be pointless, as parts seem next to impossible to source after a couple of years.

As you have stated rather rubbish brand at least the insurance policy will pay out for a replacement machine less 10% depreciation per year of ownership if it were to die and parts imposible to find.
