Becca,
There was a post made in this section in 2009, which had no replies.
Its good to see that someone has made use of the scheme, though we have been unsuccessful many times.

No good for us.
My hubby did 20 years, it seems you have to have been to Afghanistan to get any help these days.
Typical. 5 tours of Northern Ireland not glamorous enough.........I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

that seems a harsh post, its for serving forces or medically dc since 2001, nowhere does it say it has to be injuries inflicted in afghan.
I'm sorry if you feel hard done by but I think the site is prodominatly for the serving forces, you know the ones that spend weeks away from their families so that their time together can be better quality. I assume you hubby now returns home every night, eats tea with you, argues over the remote control etc...Making small changes, hoping they will last....0 -

I never said it did.
It's just typical that to get any help soldiers have to have served in Afghanistan.
Soldiers that have or are serving elsewhere don't get a look in, it's just not glamorous enough.
I suppose that when the soldiers that are serving now retire, they will be thrown on the scrapheap too....
My husband doesn't come home every night, he can't work, his body is shattered after 20 years in the army.
Nor can he eat a proper meal, living mostly on minced beef and Ensure drinks.
If I am very lucky he might still be alive in 5 years time.

Maybe you need the help SSAFA or the RBL, rather than a ticket to a concert.0

It is my understanding that you do not have to have served in Afghanistan (or ever have been on tour anywhere at all) to make use of Tickets For Troops. Is that incorrect?0

Can you not read the link in post 3?0 -
Sorry if I offended but I stand by my post, I'm sorry to hear of your hardship of late but as martinbuckley said maybe you need SSFA or another organisations help?
IMY that TFT are there to make serving soliders quality with families better.
In you original post you compare afghan with northern ireland, which i feel is not justified as TFT have only used the start of the afghan conflict as a cut off point for MD. regardless if your've served there or not, so what's you point?
And if somebody retires they are not entitled to the scheme anyway, again backing up that TFT are for serving solider prodominatly.
BTW no tour is glamorous.
I STAND BY MY ORIGINAL POST THAT TFT IS A GREAT SCHEME FOR ARMED FORCES (BTW THIS IS THE ARMED FORCES BOARD)
oh and for the "I'll be lucky if he's alive in 5 years time" is very cheap, nasty comment on a board that have seen so many lost due to ALL conflicts. I'm sure there are mothers, fathers, wifes husband and children who would love one more day.Making small changes, hoping they will last....0 -

I have used TfT on several occaisions. My problem with then however, is my family can only have the benefit while I am on leave, as my ID card has to be shown at venues. I have asked TfT if there is any way round this but they say NO!!0
