How to Undo an action?

Options
This is very embarrassing, been messing about trying to send music files to WMP for burning all afternoon. In doing this I have somehow copied all the music file icons on to the desktop! All 240! They have completely covered the screen. So how to undo please. I think I was in the music playlists folder at the time. Is there a way of undoing up to, say, your last half dozen actions? Think I wanted to put folder on Desktop as the music files didn't want to go! but ended up individually sending them.

I know.... a little (or tiny) amount of knowledge is a dangerous thing!

Just highlight all of the copies, and delete them.

Thanks, but a bit drastic? Surely something more basic?

if you go through Windows Explorer you can navigate to your desktop and display by extension. It'll make it easier to group / highlight together and move back or delete.

Thanks but I've tried clicking an icon, then shift and clicking another and it only highlights irregularly including the program icons (which obviously I need to keep).

takes 2 minutes or you can fuff around for ages

I always use system restore to correct my finer computer moments

only rolls back a few hours......to the last auto restore point

if you want to do it that way, hold down shift, then click icons, try clicking near bottom, should highlight multiple icons, be careful you don't delete your important ones.

Think this is best option...don't know what I'd do without the MSE forumistas!

Hold control instead od shift. This lests you select them at random rather than sequence.

ctrl+z will often undo 'mistakes', if you're quick enough, but not all,:D
    Move along, nothing to see.
