I think my washing machine may be beyond repair, so as Im on a very limited budget was wondering if you can get second hand ones and if its worth it and if so, where to look. Any ideas please.

look in local paper for house clearance people and ring them up (look for a genuine company rather than a cowboy though)
a friend does house clearances and i bought a very nice low mileage washer off him a few months back for £60 its still in the shops new for £400
it came from a deceased home
hth
obviously things like freecycle are worth a look too0 -
Thanks, have tried freecycle no luck yet. will get a local paper0

What's wrong with the old one? It may be fixable for a reasonable sum, many parts can be fitted with getting someone in.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I think unless you know anything about the life of a second hand machine it's a bit risky buying secondhand unless you get some kind of guarantee.
You can get a new machine for a reasonable price these days. Can you raise any money some how ???0 -
As macman says, whats the symptoms?
Our fan oven went a couple of months ago, was going to buy one off ebay but then decided as it wasnt heating up,(fan running) it must be the element.
£7 later, it's working again.0 -

Where do you live ?
Here in Liverpool we have a place called 'Bulky Bobs', i think it's a sort of Council sponsored charity. When people are trying to get rid of stuff they can ring BB and they'll take things away free, they then refurbish them and sell them on to the public with perhaps 3mth /6mth guarantee.
The men / women doing the refurbishment are long term unemployed but get on a training course at BB to learn a new trade.
They have furniture; tvs etc; white goods.
Maybe other parts of the country do the same type of thing, if you asked in your Council; Library or Citizens Advice
