Ok scrap what I just posted I thought I was logged in turns out I wasn't, once I logged in I searched for 'meal deal' and low and behold there was the sponge pudding!! See now why op called it clotted cream sponge as on the box it says '2 clotted cream and toffee sauce sponge puddings'
It is a brownish rectangle box with a picture of the sponge on the left and one he right is a dollop of cream&some bits of toffee. Hope that helps those that asked what's on the box!

So if this in the deal fridge at tesco hopefully it wont scan as part of the deal to get dtd, right?

So are we assuming its the sponge thats causing it not to go through? Therefore we are able to buy other mains instead of following OPs list?

OP's list works online for me so does that mean it will work instore therefore no DTD?

if i buy say two of the meal deals and mix it up with some other food and it goes through and i go to customer services and they wont give me double the difference do you think it would be ok to say i dont want it and ask for a refund.or would it look like i only went in with the intent for dtd

Well, something is a bit odd about this possible glitch!

It doesn't appear to be the pudding thats doing it - or, at least its not clearcut. I've just bought the folowing :

Meatballs
toffee puds
Isla Negra (the red not the white cos they didn't have white)
Rosemary potatoes (they didn't have any mushrooms)

The meal deal offer kicked in as it should. Now it may be that either the wine or the different potatoes spoiled the hoped for glitch but I'm still a bit suspicious of the puddings.

The puddings I bought are certainly the right ones - 2 clotted cream & toffee sauce sponge puddings - but the cardboard sleeve looks different to the one in the picture posted back along. There is a picture of the sponge with sauce on the left but the right side hasn't got the picture of the cream and fudge chunks, its just got a silver section with the actual name of the puddings and a round Meal Deal label.

I suppose its possible that there are two different types of packaging and only one works. The barcode on mine was 5052319093384 exp date 26 June.

So, I've got a meal deal for £10 which I probably don't really want (but I didn't actually pay in 'real' money:)).

Yes, I know you did - you also had the mushrooms as a side. I don't know if its the wine, the potatoes or possibly the different packaging on the puddings.

Are you able to oist the barcode of the puddings please - would be useful to check if its the same as mine or if its a different batch.
