Thanks for that Andy.
I'd had a similar response to my email. Stating once account fully functional I could add funds and that they would email me to inform me when account closed to new deposits but no timescale on that.Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

Thanks for this thread - I had no idea the account had been withdrawn.
As I had an ING account nearing the end of an introductory % rate I opened one of these and transfered the money from the ING account into a current account so I could draw a cheque and send.
The cheque has now been sent with the signed paperwork and I can see the account (with £0 balance) online.
I sent an email a week ago asking Leeds:
If they could send me the sort code and account number for the account so that I could set up a regular (monthly) payment to this account from a current account (no facility to do this online).
No answer to this email yet.
Are you guys suggesting that they may not allow me to set this regular payment up with the withdrawal of the account?
Thanks in advance0 -

fair enough!
Except ING is only for those not previously customers of ING according to its website...so I can't get it - I would get the std rate of 0.5%.
Additionally seeing how unenthusiastic the Dutch Gov were about refunding their own citizens in the Icesave debacle, and given that ING is part of the Dutch FSCS equivalent scheme rather than the UK one I think I'd give them a miss.
Santander....yes, agreed, but with the sort of flak they get on here over their 'customer service' I'd guess they do indeed need to offer good rates to get people to save with them.0 -
Veryintrigued:
At the moment as you can probably see from what I've written about (my 2nd post, #11 of this thread), Leeds Building Society are saying that as you applied before it was withdrawn and sent the paperwork + cheque within the 28 day limit (assumption by me that you have) they will honour the account and you will be able to add funds to until they notify you otherwise.
The only issue is we don't know how long it will be until they close the accounts to new funds and I haven't read of anyone having an account completely open yet so we don't really know. Personally I will keep this thread updated until my account is fully open so other people can see what's happening, perhaps if your application is ahead of mine you might pop back to let us know too.
Hope that helps

ChiefGrassCutter, If you open an ING account in joint names (or if you previously held a joint account and you now open a new account with the names transposed) they treat you as a new customer and hence eligible for the higher interest rate.0

Assumption correct - not cashed yet though.

Yes - you're right it's not ideal especially when people are wanting to set up arrangements to feed it regularly. No worries with keeping thread updated with progress on my part.
Hope that helps
