briefly: Am dual fuel. recently left npower to go to websaver 11 british gas. transfer now done websaver 11 no longer available :(
Am on the standard tariff at the moment and so need to switch to a deal with them or move again :(

options 1. switch straight back to 'npower go fix 6' for 12 mths @ £700 per annum for my usage. takes 6 weeks though. but fixed til 31july2012.

2. Stay with british gas (easier) on websaver 12 or online 4 @ £702 per annum for my usage. but........i need to know if there's another rise due this year.........

thanks mark

If you applied to switch to BG websaver 11 when it was available, I don't know why you are not on it? You definitely should not be on their standard tariff.

In answer to your question over whether BG will increase prices, well they haven't announced it yet, but hinted at it last month:

Some other questions of a similar vein to ponder whilst you await any announcement: Is the Pope a Catholic and do Bears sh, ...deficate, in the woods? ;)

haha so it's likely then :). Well i was told by one of their sales team to transfer onto their standard tariff then phone when they take me over to get put onto websaver 11....that way i would get a £75 credit at the end of the year...unfortunately that websaver 11 has now been pulled :(

However, i've just this second phoned them and they said as i was told you were ultimately going to be on websaver 11 i'll honour it for you...and he has now put me on it for elec and the same will happen for my gas on the 24th when they take over that too, saying that yes websaver 11 was cheaper than websaver 12 :)

I'm sure that he was not obliged to this as i had obviously agreed to transfer to their standard before changing onto their websaver the day that i went live...so in effect i did not sign up to websaver 11 at the point i decided to switch to them. Good to see a bit of customer service today though- i didn't even have to argue the point he just offered to resurrect websaver 11 on his own volition :)

So the way i look at it now is my cost on websaver 11 will be less than on websaver12 which was £700 a year (but i cant get a figure for websaver11 as its not on their site anymore), and i have a £75 buffer for any price increases in the next 12 months.
so if say websaver11 = £670 for the year the £75 gives me an 'allowance' of 11 percent of price rises before they affect me.

this isn't too bad, although if i could be bothered with the hassle it would have been slightly better to go back to npower on their gofix for £700 to totally protect against any price rise.

I can`t give any info other than the details will be announced on Monday.
    :money:
  • ah ok thanks for the heads up. I don't want to compromise your position. I notice there is one at the moment called fixed price 2012 but this has a 19% load over the standard tariff on it already so i decided it wasn't worth taking that one. Maybe you could intimate without any detail whatsoever, whether the new one will simply be 'better' or 'worse' than the existing one i mention?

IF it's better, is there a cooling off period on the websaver 11 i signed up to today so i could change to the fixed without the £35 exit fee?!!!! lol
