Corsa pedal test not working.

I wonder if anyone could help me by pointing out where I'm going wrong with the 'pedal test' to give the fault codes on my Corsa. It's a 1.3 CDTI from 2004. The engine management light is coming on now and again and I'd like to identify the problem but I can't get the 'pedal test' to work.
Engine off, brake and accelerator to the floor and turn the ignition on is the way I've read but I've tried this a few times and the engine management light just stays on. It doesn't flash.
Where am I going wrong?

No idea, but if I remember correctly the way to reset the engine management light is to put foot on brake peddle and hold the trip button in, then turn ignition on but do not start the engine. hold until inspection word appears then switch ignition off.
Not sure if that will help0 -

That will stop the car flashing 'INSP' because it thinks it's due for a service but it isn't going to do anything more than that. What's the point of the 'daft' remark exactly then?
If you look carefully you can see its crossed out and, at the end of the sentence is a winking smiley, they should be taken to indicate that the post was meant to convey the required information in a humorous way.
Please note that there are no crossings out or smileys in the above paragraph so feel free to take it any way you want.
