Wireless USB Adapter Problem

Options
Hi,

I switched to Sky broadband last week and purchased a Belkin Wireless USB Adapter from amazon.
I cannot get the adapter to connect to the Sagemcom router.
It finds the router no problem and with full signal, but will not connect.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

The Sagemcom is set up (as far as I can make out) for WPA2 personal.

I've tried all different types with the Belkin adapter.

I am using the right key and all is Uppercase.

I should say that I also have a Sky Anytime+ wireless connector that set up ok and seems to be working fine.
  • Try updating the driver for the Belkin adapter.

    Hi,
Try updating the driver for the Belkin adapter.

I have updated the Belkin adapter driver, but nothing has changed.

    @BunShopBandit
I have tried using the Belkin application and also the windows XP utility.

It is not limited to MAC address.

I am new to this. I have only had the router for 16 days now, the Anytime connector for 10 days and the Belkin adapter since Friday morning.

Thank you BunShopBandit, you are a genius.

    Answers to your post above:

    1. Mine is the only one I can see.

    2. WPA2 personal (pre shared key) is set (I wondered what psk meant).

    3. AP? (Access Point?) - Checked the key - All ok.

    4. ACL? (Access Client List?) - That is clear.

I changed the channel (whatever that is) on the router from AUTO to 11 (as per your advise) and it kicked in straight away...It works, and very well.

    Thank you ever so much.

If you are still interested the router is a Sagemcom Pack F@ST 2304N and the adapter is a Belkin N Wireless USB Adapter F5D8053ed Ver.6002ed

If the router was using channel 12 or 13 some XP's won't connect , just for info, glad you sorted it.

A couple of questions if I may...

    1. Is it ok to leave the USB wireless adapter in the computer all the time or should I take it out when not in use?
    - I'm thinking wear and tear here.

    2. The adapter was connecting to the router at 74mbs an hour ago and nor it's only 14.5 - Should I be worried?

    Thank you

    Is it a laptop ?

    If yes
    1) be careful not to whack it on the move
    2) stay still and don't move round the house:p

    If no
    1) leave it there
    2) could be a microwave oven ... or a corset getting in the way of the router and the PC signals
