One month ago .. and this AM in my local supermarket

Preamble

Last month and twice a week for a month I wrote snail mail :

- enclosing a disposable gmail address
- the addy I gave led to date & time stamped wide angle digital shots of all cars both those displaying BB and those not
- twice a day two days per week for a total of 16 visits I gave a running total of the % of vehicles in not displaying a BB
- I gave the evidence .. .. along with a plea to do something to enforce their ' social accounting ' policy, and refereed them to the ' nasty clamper's ' website

This Morning

- I went to my local national supermarket to do the photographs
- the usual, 15 places, the only available two in the obvious too~far~to~walk from the front entrance
- finished the photo's went to their filling station and filled up
- went back around the BB spaces and lo and behold
- two ' nasty clamper persons ' issuing tickets, 6 tickets issued in 21 minutes

I personally made a bee line for the ' nasty clampers ' to express a personal thank you. The local manager will I'm told refuse deal with a customer complaint, all complaints will be refereed to the ' nasty clamper ' company only.

I have already e-mail'd & snail mailed my thanks, and this mornings photo evidence to my local supermarket.

The right / wrong thing to do. Legal / iffy thing to do. I don't care I made the case for them, proved the case for them, and left it to my local supermarket.

What a great thing to do. If everyone on here did the same, it would explode on all the Supermarkets. I will be arming myself with my Camera next time I go down to the supermarket.

Would MSF allow a name and shame thread that we can email a link to the companies PR depts? It might up the ante a touch more!

"" name and shame thread "", is an interesting idea, MSE is already a campaigning organisation, however I'm not a lawyer and whilst individuals may wish toi name I'm not sure whether a site such as this would be comfortable with the idea.

You will note from #1 .. .. I deliberately did not name the supermarket brand or the ' nasty clamper company ' concerned, I did ask in my latest email to the supermarket if it was a trial / specific to my local supermarket [ localised complaint ] / or being rolled out nationally.

I cannot see how naming would be bad. You get the BBC watchdog thumbs up and down stories. Plus other media with that same idea. It would certainly get the Supermarkets to pull their fingers out.

Wow, brilliant result, well done you!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • Hello Richie-from-the-Boro,

Well done you! It's great to hear your persistent effort has paid off. You got a fantastic result and I'm sure all disabled customers with Blue Badges will be most grateful to you.

I'm also sure people who park there and are not entitled to won't be grateful but tough!, they should be more considerate when they park. Perhaps having to put their hand in their pockets might help them be more thoughtful in future.

    Great work! :)
