I have got a flatmate and it is very handy. I use it to clean under the fridge and on top of the washing machine. If you are craft minded you could probably make something similar. It is basically a felt cover that slides onto a flat piece of stick.

Too late - just ordered one. :)

And, FWIW, I didn't intend to talk my hubby down. He is a good husband and father. Honestly, the fridge weighs a ton.

If not wanting to shift a heavy fridge about every month is the worst of his faults you've got a good one there. ;)

Btw, I thought I'd mention that my Flatmate arrived today. I love it!! (And my kids are pretty taken with the mini version that came with it! lol) I have cleaned under the fridge and the sides of the fridge and I've managed to squeeze it all around the washing machine too, despite the "gaps" being much smaller than around the fridge. It was strangely therapeutic to get all the dust and debris out... Er. :) I just hope that the Flatmate covers wash well (fingers crossed - the cover is so grubby now).

If anyone else is looking for an "underneath white-goods" cleaning solution, I totally endorse the Flatmate recommendation. :)

My fridge is small and can be pulled out easily so I dont have this problem - but a wire coat hanger with a wet sock on it, secured with an elastic band would do the job without spending extra on a fancy cleaning implement...

    I'm sorry, I've tried, honestly I have.

But I just can't make any sense of the word 'cleaning' when put together with the phrase 'under a fridge'.

    What does it all mean??

Perhaps this is Advanced Housekeeping, of which I know nothing.

i just slice mine out and hoover, then wash the floor. i try to do it weekly, but i have to admit it has become a montly job as i'm pregnant and i'm trying to teach myself to not move things like the fridge, washign machine, cooker , bunk beds etc at the moment.which annoys me as i do it part of normal routine.

OK I will now hang my head with shame and admit that my fridge freezer hasnt been moved for a very long time. I cant actually remember when it was last moved and I know it must be disgusting under there.

When our boiler needed to be repaired last winter we had to move the washing machine and that was bad enough.

I do get as far underneath as I can when I wash the floor but thats it. My Mum has her fridge on a wheely thing but it lifts it quite a long way off the floor. Why dont manufacturers put some sort of wheels on them when they are made?

Sorry but when I first read the thread quickly I thought someone had a flatmate who liked moving furniture. I could do with one of those!!! Have just read it properly and realised its a gadget from Lakeland. I am trying to wean myself off Lakeland gadgets so better not go there.
