Bosch washing machine chews up cloths

Hello friends,

I have had my bosch washing machine for 4 years. Very recently it started chewing up cloths and making holes. I am very confident cloths get torn when then get stuck between the drum and the door seal as there are gray markings around the torn holes.

Do you think I can fix this problem by replacing the door seal or should I just buy a new machine?

it would seem so ..but when you have the seal out ..check that nothing has fallen between the inner and outer drum

there are lots of seals on the market .some are good, some are bad pattern ones, and there are the expensive genuine bosch ones ..may be possible to buy a genuine one cheap ..if you look down the ebay route ..

BTW changing the seal is not as strait forward as you may think.

..its often quite difficult and frustrating.........if you can change a push bike tire without difficulty...you mite be able to change a washing machine seal.
BTW ...in the area just between the door and the drum the seal is usually folded......in this area things can get trapped such as wood screws that have fallen out of pockets ..and bra wires ..check there isn't anything in there.

also check your drum for sharp edges/holes by runnig your hand around the inside of your drum.

Don't overfill your washer either. As that used to do it for me.

we've had this problem too, i even posted on here about it! i had Hotpoint out to me about this problem and he checked the filter at the front of the washing machine and there was some pennys & screws (builder husband!) in there, also he told me to turn down the spin on delicate type thin clothing, our situation has somewhat improved but now and again i notice holes in the kids PJ'S, try emptying your filter first,
