Change in circumstances & DRO
Hello everyone, I am a newbie so please be gentle. Although I have found this site extremely usefully in the past (so thank you all very much) this is my first time posting a message so please accept my apologies if it is in the wrong place, too long, not to the point etc, etc. I was just hoping someone here would be able to help me…please!
I am currently in the moratorium period of a DRO (I have 8 months left), however I have just moved house and am due to start a new job. I need to inform the official receiver of these changes, but I am really apprehensive about doing so. The stomach churning, sickly, world is going to collapse feeling I had 4 months ago before my DRO was accepted has returned and I am terrified at the thought of my DRO being cancelled and having to re-pay back all my debts. I just about squeezed under the £15,000 threshold and one more interest charge would have pushed me over the limit.
The job is only for the summer (so until September) is minimum wage and 37.5 hrs a week, so my rough take-home wage would be around £894 per month. I am single with no dependants.
My DRO was accepted with my monthly living expenses calculated at £636 per month- I was a mature student. So quite a lot less than the £894 per month I am proposing.
I was just wondering if anyone else has informed the official receiver of a change in circumstances? and what figures the OR would accept? and what the process is?
Below is my potential monthly financial statement budget. Any comments / tips / advice would be more than appreciated.
Rent - £259.80
Council Tax - £25
Car – insurance-£72.33
Car – Tax - £10.09
Car – petrol - £80
Car – maintenance - £ 21
Clothing (work & personal) £17
Hair - £10
Public Transport -£24
Telephone (mobile) – £25
Telephone (internet) -£36
Housekeeping (including food/toiletries/bills) - £300
Total expenditure - £880.21
Total income - £894.
Do you think this looks satisfactory and more importantly what do you think the OR would make of it.
Thank you.

hi pickleton.....the housekeeping looks a little high for a single person....also i think the OR might want to know why you have included busfares as well as petrol....you havnt put down anything for tv licence or home insurance.. just noticed you put your bills down on your housekeeping....list all your bills seperately....on mine i put down £40 gas £30 electric....£216 housekeeping....re do it and post again....im sure it will be fine..:)Hello everyone, I am a newbie so please be gentle. Hi,
I think £300 pm for housekeeping (including clothing) would be reasonable.
It is very difficult to give advice on this area as there is no clear guidance to intermediaries on the matter. My own thoughts are that if you have increased income from a job, then you may well have increased costs in that your original budget was unrealistically low and / or your costs have increased due to travel, meals at work, childcare, loss of associated benefits etc.
The IS do not make any comments on the financial statement within a DRO. I am wondering how they would make such a decision to potentially revoke a DRO as they are not debt advisers working within the parameters of the CFS and the rules around income and expenditure in BR bear no ressemblance or legal similarity to that of a DRO.
- also, is your c/tax really only £25 pm?
