Us vs Lowell/Littlewoods

Was it in 2009 that this all happened?
Is it marked as defaulted?
Accounts that are sold on to debt collectors or tranfered are sometimes marked as settled, especially if the seller/buyer don't come to an agreement about who is to be responsible for keeping the info on the credit report up to date.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

We think it happened in 2009 however the credit limit it shows on both Experian and Equifax is the same credit limit (i.e £200) as his old Very account which he paid his Littlewoods credit limit was around £700.00
Sorry forgot to say it says settled with no defaults or missed payments they are all green0 -
So that is likely to be the separate Very account then? And not the one that went to Lowells?
Well, if his Littlewoods limit was £700, and Lowells are demanding £870 (ish) then that indicates that a load of interest and charges have been lumped on somewhere.
Presuming that those wouldn't have been added on if Littlewoods hadn't messed up and allowed you to actually pay the account, then at the very least they should be refunding these to you or paying the part of the Lowells demand that is made up of them.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

That is all presuming that Littlewoods still had control of the account between 2009 and May this year when it was sold on.
If they did, then they have no excuse for not giving you the info that would allow you to pay it.
But I'm also wondering if they sold it prior to that, and that may be a reason why you had nothing from them?
Not an excuse, as if they did sell it, then they should have told you that as well.
When the account vanished in 2009, was your OH behind with payments?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Yes it is the seperate Very account. Why do things come along when everything is going well?! Typical. Just getting all my notes ready and will contact them and see what they say Thanks0 -

Well, at the very least they have some explaining to do as to why you weren't able to pay it originally?
And if they sold it on, when did they do that?
These things always seem to come at the worst time, but at least it looks as if it hasn't harmed his credit rating/files yet. That is the major thing.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Sorry I just noticed there was some questions that I did not answer, he only ever missed one payment and that was at the very start since then he paid on time and always over the minimum that they requested, until his account disappeared. The letter stated that on 18/10/2010 the debt was legally assigned to Lowell.0 -
So the account wasn't in arrears or in default when it 'vanished'.
Sorry, but I had to ask.
If he had been, then that could have explained why it disappeared. i.e. they sold it on and removed in from their systems in 2009, but neglected to tell you or record that properly. Accounts can be sold on from debt collector to debt collector, so Lowells might have only been the latest to buy it.
That doesn't seem to be the case though, so it's still a mystery as to why it just disappeared as far as Littlewoods were concerned, meaning that you couldn't pay it.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Exactly although his searches only show Lowell searching at the time they bought they debt and then a week before they sent us the letter. There is no other searches from any debt collector. Trouble is knowing how Littlewoods operate they will deny any knowledge of us phoning. We are stuck now really, will phone them up and sort it out.0 -
No joy with them, have phoned up twice now and they are adamant that they still cannot discuss it, considering Littlewoods do not want a bad rep they are doing a shoddy job of trying to help. I have emailed Mark Newton Jones- I await a reply, hope it will be soon as we want to make sure that his file does not get damaged0
