            Littlewoods can still do plenty.
They can check to see if it was their mistake. Sounds like that is a given really.
If it is their mistake then they can write confirming that.
They can't literally take the debt back from Lowells if it's been sold, but they could certainly contact Lowells to tell them that the debt should never have been passed to them, and that no bad data should be recorded on your credit files.
Basically, the outcome you need is:
 1) Pay this off to whoever now owns the rights to the debt.
 2) Get it confirmed in writing that there was an error resulting in the debt being passed on.
 3) Get it confirmed in writing that it shouldn't harm your OH's credit reference files.
 4) Avoid any of the normal hassle and nastiness that usually comes with Lowells.
Littlewoods can still, and should, help with (2) and (3), and (4).
You need to contact them again and do not accept being "fobbed off" as you were this morning.

Oh, and if there has been interest and charges added due to their mistake (not to mention your wasted time/effort), then you need compensation for those. Ha! Thank you again. We do believe that the CCA never was signed, would this help in the matter as they have passed information on to a 3rd party without his consent?0

Possibly, although the data sharing issue is always a tricky one.
The ICO does not always agree that actual signed consent is needed to share data. Often it is enough to verbally agree; or they say that by taking out the credit/services that you tacitly agree to the data sharing.
Then there is the issue that this the legal assignment of the rights and duties on the account to another party, rather than just sharing data with someone else. On assignment, the other party legally become the creditor, so it's arguable that on that basis alone they have a right to the data.
May be something to look into if all else fails.......Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

OK, I have wrote a letter to Lowell stating that the account is in dispute, I would be contacting the original creditor to resolve the matter. When I phone Littlewoods I tell them that I have been referred by the Facebook forum relation team..........and then I am stuck as to what I should say/ask for? Should I write to Littlewoods as well?0

It sounds like an old lxdirect account, it would say no such account online if it has been disabled due to been sold. Lx didnt have signed agreements, but runs the same as next doesDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

 - That they explain why when you tried to resolve and pay the account, that they ignored your efforts?
 - That you require a breakdown of interest and charges applied as you will be claiming this back from them.
 - That they write to Lowells telling them that the account remained unpaid due to a mistake on their part, that no charges or interest should be added, and that any default or adverse date on the credit reference files is invalid and should be removed and none should be added from now onwards.
Most importantly, that as this was Littlewoods mistake, then they need to help ensure that you don't suffer financially or your credit reference files suffer adversely due to their error.
Otherwise you will be making a complaint to the financial ombudsman, where you will ask for appropriate compensation as they see fit.
In the end, if this is Littlewoods """" up, then they have a duty to help you sort it out. Especially if unjustified interest/charges have been lumped on, you have erroneous defaults etc applied to your files, and you have to deal with debt collectors & 3rd parties due to Littlewood's mistakes.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thank you again, We have checked his file on Equifax and there is no such record of him even having a Littlewoods account, it shows an account with Littlewoods that was settled in October 2009...........strange.0
