microwave repair or not?

Hi all,
I have a Delonghi microwave oven and grill combo, bought last year.
The microwave has stopped working, the oven works fine and I have not tried out the grill since the fault.
The delonghi centre is too far and would cost me more then the £80 I paid to send it there and get it back.
Is it possible to find a local repaire person (I'm sorry for sounding dumb, in my little work I've only heard of a washing machine / dryer / boiler / sewing machine repaireman) and a question to those repaire people: is it likely to cost much?
Thanks all

I got the microwave at20% on sale offer plus -30% because the box was damaged.
At the time the argos staff would not sell an extended warrenty because of damage to box, and now it is out of the 1 year warrenty also.
But seriously around £10? Thats brilliant! since I saw your reply I've started looking for someone in the yellow pages.
Thank:)you Hintza!0 -
Any of the virtual courier co's will transport something that size for about a tenner.-can't be more than 15kg surely?
Or try a local electrical repair shop-they're not very complex devices.
If it's only weeks out of warranty it might be worth a pleading call to the manufacturer though-what's to lose?No free lunch, and no free laptop

You'd be suprised - it's 20kg, I first checked out Royal Mail website and was told about £25 for registered post. Which was why it was too much £25 going and £25 coming back plus parts and labour.......
Had asked our washing machine repairman who told me it would be hard to find a cheap repair person for it.
BUT found 2 local companies, will take microwave down next week and see what they say.
Thank:)you Macman0 -
I did ask manufacturer first as only a month out of warranty, said that was why they recommend the warranty in the first place. Well they where polite about it
atleast and did not make me feel an idiot for trying. 0 -

Why on earth use RM though?
As I said, virtual couriers around a tenner, this one is £10.62 for up to 50kg, next day delivery. Plenty of others in that price range too.

Tell the manufacturer you are not claiming under the warranty for a repair / replacement but under the Sale of Goods Act. At just over a year old it is reasonable to assume that it should still work and the product was not fit for purpose.I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.0
