This is unfair

Wanted to treat myself by a short 3days break to Bruges by coach. The company advertises this break as a deal for £165 but when I made an enquiry the price went up to £269. This is with a single supplement. This is almost a double!!! I just disagree with it. Its so unfair for the single travellers.

Then don't buy. Sorry; I've had the same problem, but it really does reflect the increased costs (maybe not as much as that, but you know what I mean). Presumably, you will cost the same except a space on the coach (ie a room to yourself).
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?

When there are two people the hotel cost is divided by two, when there is one this cannot be done. I don't see the problem.
    Gone ... or have I?

find a friend to go with and ask for single beds
split up after breakfast re-meet for supper
or if you live near hull go on your own on the ferry:)

    But what if you don't?

But the coach company's figures are based on having two people sharing a room and essentially dividing the price of the room between them, which I'm sure is spelled out somewhere in the ad, brochure, website or whatever. If you want single occupancy of a room the numbers only work if you pay for the unoccupied portion of the bed/room. If the operators said you can share a room/bed with a stranger (or friend of your choice) for £165 each or you can have a room/bed of your own for £269 what would your choice be?
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!

just look at it this way:

if you get a taxi from the pub to home, it may cost £10. now if you have a friend with you, then it costs £5 each, but if you travel alone, the cost will be £10 each.

would you argue with the taxi driver, saying it's unfair for being a single traveller?

Exactly, I never understand why people can't see this.

    That's a great analogy, Dave. :T

Can I ask if either you or HXDave are in the position where you are always in a couple/group or do you ever travel alone?
I feel that has an impact on how you view things

    Lewroll,

Sometimes i travel alone, sometimes in group. I just see things as a total for the service being offered.
