edf??
EDF appear to be the cheapest i can find to switch too, has any one heard of them? or got any experience of them? it says if i swap to them i will save £87.41 or if i swap to british gas web saver 12 it will be £64.60 cheaper, is it worth the hassle swapping for £30 a year?

Cant offer any advise on whether it would be worth it for you but with regards EDF. I have been with them while about 2 years I think on their Eco 20:20 (lowers prices from 10pm bst - 8am - or 9pm to 7am GMT)
I have been really pleased with them. Bills are nice and easy to read, enter my own reading on line. I'm at home all day, 3 bed detatched family of 3 and my bill is £30 a month and usually get about £80 refunded after my winter bill.

They're one of the big energy companies. I was an EDF customer for about two years, prices were good in my area at that time and I was happy with the customer service.0

EDF aaaaw bless.:D
I enjoyed it.:beer:0 -
I am having MAJOR problems with EDF at the moment who seem to be the only company on the planet that has difficulty in setting up a DD. Usual wait to get hold of someone is 30 minutes (good job its a 0800 number!) though I was on hold for 90 minutes Thursday before I got hold of someone.
I must admit the CAs are helpful enough its just the helpfulness isn't translated into doing the job needed properly.2014 Target;

We were with EDF for 2010/11, had no problems, maintained our meter readings etc online, DD set up correctly and adjusted halfway through the year, swapped into them with no hassle and are now swapping out again without any hassle.
Is it worth swapping for £30? I'd say so ... but I always go through TopCashBack too when signing up with a new supplier so I not only save on the bill but also get some money for joining a new company.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

EDF are one of the big 6 suppliers.
(Presumably you are looking only at fixed/capped deals?)
Who are you with at the moment? If not EDF or BG then you'll need to switch to save, so why not switch to the cheapest.
If you are already with BG, transferring to a different BG tariff will be much simpler (a phone call or perhaps online). It may be worth £30 to avoid the hassle - only you can decide. As a plus they should be able to transfer you today meaning you start saving today
(a switch of supplier will typically take 4-6 weeks)
As a negative, you won't get any cashback (but don't let cashback be a deciding factor. (a) it's not guaranteed until in your account and (b) it's a one off payment if made)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

hiya im with british gas on their standard rate, if i swap to edf, i will save £30 a year and get £30 cashback, so that will be a £60 saving for the first year but as you say, it could take 4-6 weeks, i think im better just swapping over to websaver?0 -
Anything is cheaper than Standard tariff, it's always any supplier's most expensive option.
Work out the extra you'll spend by delaying the switch for 5-6 weeks, and make your decision based on that.
But remember that Quidco will net you an extra £20 (dual fuel) if you switch to EDF.No free lunch, and no free laptop
